Vets are like doctors for animals! They check pets' health, give shots, perform surgery, and help sick animals feel better.
Some vets work with dogs and cats, others work with farm animals, and some work at zoos!

1. Love animals AND science: You need both!
2. Do well in school: Get good grades, especially in science
3. Go to college: 4 years of undergraduate school
4. Vet school: 4 more years of veterinary school
5. Get licensed: Pass tests to practice veterinary medicine
Being a vet takes a LONG time (8+ years of school) and can be expensive. Sometimes you have to put animals to sleep, which is very sad. But if you love animals, it can be the best job ever!
