🍳 Sauteing! 🍳

Quick cook in a hot pan!

⚠️ Safety: Hot pan! Use oven mitts. Ask adult for help!

What is Sauteing?

Saute comes from the French word meaning "to jump" - because you toss the food in the pan!

It's cooking food quickly in a little fat (oil or butter) over high heat.

🔧 What You Need

👨‍🍳 How To Saute

1. Heat the pan first! Add fat, let it get hot.

2. Add food in single layer! Don't crowd the pan.

3. Let it sit! Don't stir constantly. Let it get brown.

4. Toss or flip! Get the other side brown.

5. Season! Add salt and pepper at the end.

💡 Pro Tips:
• Wet food = steam, not sauté! Pat food dry first
• Crowded pan = steamed food = soggy!
• High heat = crispy outside, tender inside
