The foundation of so many meals!
Rice is a staple for over half the world's population!
It goes with almost anything - vegetables, protein, eggs, stir-fry!
The golden rule: 1 cup rice : 2 cups water
Same ratio works for most types!
Steps:
1. Rinse rice in cold water until water runs clear (gets rid of extra starch!)
2. Add rice + water + salt to pot
3. Bring to boil
4. Cover, turn to LOW
5. Cook 18 minutes (white) or 40 minutes (brown)
6. Turn off heat, let sit 5 min, then FLUFF!
Basmati: Fluffy, great with Indian food. 1:1.5 ratio
Jasmine: Slightly sticky, great with Thai
Brown: Healthier, nuttier. Takes longer, needs more water
Sushi: Short grain, sticky, great for rolls
